Who’s Laughing Now? Jessie J unveils music video

10 Aug

Who’s Laughing Now is potentially one of the most groundbreaking and inspirational songs around at the minute. Based around her experiences as a child, Jessie J sings about how they used to pull her hair, take away her chair and make nasty comments about her appearance.

Speaking to comedian Alan Carr recently, Jessie said, “Bullying is so un-talked about by people in the public eye; but it shouldn’t be. People have written to me saying that they wouldn’t go out the house because they were being bullied, but this song gave them the courage to actually go outside and live their lives.”

She added, “That’s why I’m releasing it as a single-if it gives just one child the courage and bravery to actually face their bullies and do something about it, then I’ve done my job.”

The fourth released single from her debut album, the ‘Do It Like A Dude’ singer knows that it might not do very well. “I don’t even care if it makes top 10, or even top 100. It’s putting an important message out there.”

The video was unveiled this morning, and it doesn’t disappoint. It sees Jessie return back to school and relive those moments which she’d probably rather forget. Clever, though, how she has found an uncanny resemblance to herself in another child, who plays the young star throughout the video. Jessie becomes roles such as the teacher and the dinner lady to narrate the ‘story’.

It’s a tongue-in-cheek video from the mega-star; I’d go as far to say it’s her best one yet!
